Well another great year for Sturtmoor in the Buhund Ring for 2014!

Sturtmoor attended the Norwegian Buhund Club Championship Show (18th October 2014). What a fantastic day we had!

Junior Dog - 1st Sturtmoor Destiny's Day (Lotto), 2nd Sturtmoor Danfandango (Eren - owned by Konner Owens)

Yesterday at the National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society Championship Show, Sturtmoor had a fabulous day!

Foxy - Bernegarden's Reve Enka Av Sturtmoor (Imp Nor) won her FIRST CC!!

Lotto - Sturtmoor Destiny's Day won another puppy class and also was awarded Best Puppy in Breed!

It has been a long road with Foxy to get her to this achievement, between trips to back and forth to Norway, puppies, lack of coat and seasons, she has been shown very little, but has held her own. Yesterday was the best day yet!

To date, Foxy has won 1 CC, 1 RCC. And at shows without CC's she has 3 Best of Sex's (2 with Best of Breed) and 10 Reserve Best of Sex awards! Not too shabby for a little girl who hasn't been in the ring that much!

Lotto's win takes him to the current equal Top Puppy position along with his sister Louisa (Sturtmoor's Dream Maker at Gazenorth who is owned by Paul Glaholm).

The year so far has been a good one! The babies are enjoying themselves in the ring with Lotto winning Best Puppy in Breed at two Championship Shows (out of 2) and also being short-listed in the Puppy Group at Bath Championship Show.

His sister, Louisa (owned by Paul Glaholm) won Best Puppy in Breed under Norwegian Judge Espen Engh while her dad (King) won the Reserve Dog CC under this renowned Norwegian judge who knows our breed extremely well.

The Bu club show saw a fantastic day for Sturtmoor with us winning Best Puppy Dog (with Leo), Reserve Best Bitch (with Foxy) and Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show with King. We also won the Breeders class (a first time event for the Sturtmoor Buhunds!).

With lots of shows still to attend, let's hope for a great year!

The Sturtmoor Bu's having a fun day out!

We had a super day at the Buhund Club Open Show yesterday. It was the first show for our Buhund litter at just 6 months old.

King - Best Dog, Res Best in Show and Best Opposite Sex in Show

Foxy - Reserve Best Bitch

Leo - Best Puppy Dog & Reserve Best Puppy in Show

Lotto - 2nd behind Leo in Minor Puppy Dog, and 1st in Puppy Dog, 2nd in Bred by Exhibitor

Eren - 3rd in Minor Puppy and 2nd in Puppy behind Lotto!

Louisa - 2nd in a strong Minor Puppy Bitch class (only beaten by the Best Puppy in Show winner who was also sired by King!).

Foxy - 1st in Not Bred by Exhibitor, and winner of the Progeny class with all 4 of her babies! :)

Super day for Sturtmoor! :)

King's Show Certificate of Merit title is achieved!

At the Swansea Open Show on February 8th, King won Best of Breed which gave him the final point needed for his Show Certificate of Merit title (ShCM). He then celebrated in style by going on to win the Group under our judge Tim Ball (Kaitak).

This was the final title that King could win in the UK!

All puppies now have forever homes!

We are very pleased that all our babies have found forever homes already.

We have some fabulous owners, and are looking forward to the day they can take their new bundles of fun home to their new lives.

We wish them all a long and happy life together. :)

Foxy and Kings puppies arrived on 17th September 2013. We had 6 puppies, 3 dogs and 3 bitches. All are doing very well.

Today at Bath Championships show, King finally got his final point which gives him his Junior Warrant title! Having shown Rare Breeds for many years, it is the first time we have gained a 'JW' on any of our dogs, despite several near misses!!

To top the day off - King then went on to win a Group 4 placement, such a huge achievement for a 17 month old Black Buhund! WAY TO GO KING!!

First UK Champion for Sturtmoor!

At Birmingham National Championship Show on May 11th 2013, King became Sturtmoor's first UK Champion! After many European Champs and some American Champs, at last we now have one in the UK! :)

Thanks to judge Marion Sargent for thinking so highly of our Black Buhund boy, at just 17 months old we are so proud of all his achievements.

We are very pleased to announce that the results of King's hip xray's have been received. We are proud to say that his score is...........

6:3 = 9

This means that the planned litter with Foxy will hopefully go ahead (pending eye test results).

What a fantastic year for our new boy King! He hit the show ring in June 2012 when he was 6 months old and didn't look back!

In only 10 shows with Champion Certificates (CC's) on offer (including Crufts 2013), King won 3 CC's with Best of Breed and 4 Reserve CC's (his last at Crufts 2013) as well as 6 Best Puppy in Breed's.

King finished the year as:

Top Buhund Male (Norwegian Buhund Club)
Top Buhund Puppy (Norwegian Buhund Club)
Top Black (Norwegian Buhund Club)
Top Puppy in Group (Our Dogs/Dorwest Herbs)
Runner-up Top Dog (Dog World)

We are so proud of our baby boy and all his achievements, we can only hope that he will gain is 4th CC to make him up to a Champion (as the previous 3 have all been won as a puppy,he is not yet a champion!).

Thank you to all those that have supported us throughout the year, and good luck to everyone for the coming show season which is due to start very soon!

Pending heath test results, we are planning a litter from King and Foxy (Bernegarden's Reve Enka Imp NOR) in the summer of this year.

This was King's 3rd CC from the Puppy Classes, we think he is the only Buhund in the UK's history to have achieved this! However, he still needs one more CC, taken after he is one year old to make him a UK Champion!

Well... what can I say! Our King (Svartkonge Av Sturtmoor (Imp NOR)), has had one hell of a start to his show career!!! The latest results.....

Richmond (8 September) - CC, Best of Breed & Best Puppy in Breed

Darlington (15 September) - Best Dog, Best Puppy in Breed and shortlisted in Puppy Group

Driffield (20 September) - RCC, Best Puppy in Breed

This last Best Puppy win has made him certain for Top Puppy in Breed as with only two shows left with CC's for the breed, he now cannot be beaten!

We really did not expect him to acheive so much in such a short time. Our heartfelt thanks go to May Birkeland for allowing King to come to us in Wales, and to all the judges who have thought so

At the WKC Championship Show on Saturday 18th August 2012, King (Svartkonge av Sturtmoor) excelled himself! Thanks to Judge Mr Mike Vines for awarding King the Dog CC and Best of Breed as well as Best Puppy in Breed. What a little star our King is!! :0)

For the second time in 7 days, King did us proud!!

At the National Working & Pastoral Breeds Championship Show, on 14 July 2012, under Judge Kerry Frost (Frostisen), king yet again won his class, Best Puppy in Breed and the Reserve Champion Certificate (RCC).

My good friend Laura Wilcox was kind enough to take this photograph of him at the show.

East of England Championship Show - 8 July 2012

Our latest import from Norway, Svartkonge Av Sturtmoor (King) pictured at nearly 6 months.

This baby boy had a fanastic day at the East of England Championship Show on Sunday 8th July 2012, only his second Championship Show (and fourth show of any kind)...... aged just 7 months and 1 day........ he not only won his puppy class but also won Best Puppy in Breed and the RESERVE CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE!!!

King is now qualified for Crufts for life, as this award (once confirmed by the KC) gives him his Stud Book number!!. We are so proud of our little man, and hope he has a bright future!!

His other notable win was Reserve Best Puppy In Show at the Chepstow Limited Show on 17th June!! We all adore King, and thank May Birkeland for letting him come to live with us here in the UK. He truly is a

Menna (Int/NL/BEL/DK Ch. Karabas Likande Lamenna Letta at Sturtmoor (IMP NL) Sh.C.M WW'10 EW'11). BEST OF BREED at Crufts 2012

We had a fantastic day at CRUFTS yesterday with our Menna. She not only won her class, but also took Best Bitch and BEST OF BREED!! This was a very unexpected result, but a thrilling one!

Thanks to the judge (Mrs Sue Garner) for awarding Menna Best of Breed.

It was wonderful to see her on the television, I hope she did the breed proud!

New arrival imminent.......

We are very proud to announce that King (Svarte Konge av Sturtmoor) will be due to arrive from Norway at the end of March 2012! King is a black Norwegian Buhund (male) and has come to us via May Birkeland in Norway.

Thanks to Britt Marit Halvorsen for looking after King in the interim, and arranging for him to travel to the UK. What would we do without you Britt!

We are looking forward to meeting this young man and hope he can bring some new blood and black lines to the Buhund gene pool in the UK.

Menna - Top Dog 2011 - 3 full years showing - 3 times Top Dog!!

We are very proud to annouce that Menna (Int/Bel/DK Ch. Karabas Likande Lamenna Letta at Sturtmoor (IMP NL) Sh.C.M. WW'10 W'08, W'09) is the leader in the UK's Top Dog competition!

The winners of Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex are awarded points at all Championship shows in the UK that have breed classes. Top Dog is a very coveted award that most breeders will strive to achieve, but few will actually gain.

Menna has had a phenomenal career so far, winning some Top Awards previoiusly never won by an Estrela outside of Portugal!! In this particular competition, Menna was Top Dog in 2007 and 2008 but was them absent from the show ring for the majority of 2009 and 2010 due to maternal duties. Now - back in the ring after her two year absence, she came back with style!!

We are so proud of our baby, and cannot thank Sietske Christan-Luchsinger enough for allowing her to join us!!

National Working & Pastoral Breeds Championship Show (16 July 2011)

We are proud to announce another fantastic Sturtmoor day at the National Working & Pastoral Breeds Championship Show held near Malvern on 16 July 2011.

Our Menna (Int/Bel/DK Ch. Karabas Likande Lamenna Letta at Sturtmoor IMP NL) took her 6th Best of Breed for the year under judge Meg Purnell-Carpenter! She then went on to win BEST RARE BREED IN SHOW under Judge Jack Bispham!!!!

Also her son - STURTMOOR OMARI, at 11.5 months old and at his 3rd ever show, took his 2nd Best Puppy in Breed award and also Reserve Best Dog!! Congratulations to Kathleen Garey for doing such a fantsatic job with Rouge!!

Following her son's success at WELKS on Sunday 1st May, Menna (INT/BEL/DK CH. Karabas Likande Lamenna Letta at Sturtmoor (IMP NL) Sh.C.M) took her second BEST OF BREED of the year!

WELKS Championship Show - 1st May 2011

Only one Sturtmoor Dog was present at WELKS championship show on 1st May 2011 - and what a day he had!!

Rouge (Sturtmoor Omari) who is out of Menna x Jaydee was attending his first show ever with his owner Kathleen Garey, what a start to his career!

Kath took Rouge into his first Junior Class, aged just 9 months, where he was against 3 other puppies that were a little older than him. He was placed FIRST!!! Millie (Camille Pentland - co-breeder of Rouge) then offered to take over the handling where Rouge went on to win not only Best Male but also BEST OF BREED!! There was a total entry of 21 Estrela's, with only 4 being absent. This was all under judge Robin Newhouse.

Rouge didn't stop there! Millie then took him into the Group, where judge Zena Thorn-Andrews decided to shortlist our baby boy to the LAST SIX! The Pastoral group had a total of 1124 entries, and Rouge was one best six in that group!!

Well done to Kath on doing such a fantastic job with Rouge, and getting him so well socialised. We hope to see him at more shows in the future!
